About the Portion Calculator

The **Dog Food Portion Calculator** is a free specialized utility designed to help dog owners estimate highly accurate caloric and serving sizes for dogs. We built this tool to make veterinary science approachable, serving pet owners, rescues, and veterinary technicians who want to promote canine wellness.

Our calculator processes inputs using peer-reviewed non-linear canine energy maintenance models published by the National Research Council (NRC) and Association of American Feed Control Officials (AAFCO). By combining surface-area metabolic calculations with real label calorie density variables, we eliminate standard serving margin errors that frequently lead to dog obesity.
